What should I know before entering the Library ?

- A student/employee/Library ID card is required to enter the Library, or you may use facial recognition for access.
- There are lockers to keep backpacks provided at the Library entrance, but you should always bring your valuables with you.
- To maintain a quiet and comfortable reading environment, please set all electronic devices to vibrate mode. Visitors who do not comply will receive an initial warning, and continued violations may result in further action by library staff.
Can I enter the Library if I am not a CYCU student/faculty/staff ?
Yes, you can.
- For Library second floor or above,
you are allowed to use all the Library resources except for borrowing books after exchanging a valid ID for a temporary Library card at the entrance desk. - For basement reading areas,
please get either a long-term or temporary Library card at the entrance desk.

How can I photocopy, print, or scan at the Library ?
- Multi-payment copying/printing/scanning equipment is located in the 2nd floor Information Commons. For more information, please click the link.
- Self-service scanning machines are available for reader use. For more information, please click the link.

How do I get the latest news of the Library ?
- Stay informed about library news and updates by subscribing to our email service. Contact the System Section at extension 2851 for assistance.
- Faculty, staff, and students can subscribe by clicking Newsletter Subscription on our website and completing the online registration. You’ll receive email notifications about new services, announcements, and events, so you won’t miss any important library information.
What should I do if I cannot swipe in with my ID card ?
These are the possible reasons:
- Your information is not in the system, please register at the entrance desk on the second floor.
- Your ID card could be damaged,
please apply for a new card at the original issuing office as soon as possible.
Before receiving a new ID card, you may exchange a valid ID for a temporary Library card to enter the Library.
You are required to bring the Library card back before the Library closes (9:50 pm on weekdays, 5:50 pm on weekends, and closing times for summer and winter breaks will be announced),
or else you will be fined 50 TWD per day. - The access control system could be damaged, please notify the staff.
What should I do if I lose my personal belongings at the Library ?
Please report your loss at the entrance desk on the second floor and ask the staff to check the lost and found.
Can I leave my backpack at the Library ?
Yes, you can. You are allowed to bring your backpacks to the Library and there are lockers at the entrance on the second floor if you want to keep your stuff there temporarily. However, you cannot leave your stuff in the lockers overnight, or else you will be fined 50 TWD per day. Please read Regulations for CYCU Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library Locker Management.
Can I borrow an umbrella from the Library ?
You are allowed to borrow umbrellas from the Library since March, 2007.
- Only CYCU students, faculties, and alumni are able to borrow umbrellas from the Library.
- A service card, student ID, or alumni ID is required to borrow umbrellas at the entrance on the second floor.
- Please return the umbrella as soon as possible in the convenience of the next user. You must return it after 7 days, or else you will be fined 5 TWD per day. If you lose the umbrella, you are required to pay 150 TWD.
Can I get a mask if I’m ill ?
You can get masks at the Library since March, 2009.
- Only readers who are coughing on that day are able to get masks at the Library.
- A service card, student ID, or alumni ID is required to get masks at the entrance on the second floor.
- You do not need to return the masks, but please take them only if you need them.
How do I rent a locker at the Library ?
Please visit the Entrance Desk on the second floor. Only CYCU students, faculties (and family members of them), retired faculty, or alumni who are allowed to borrow books from the Library are able to use the lockers. A student ID, service card, Library card, or other valid IDs is required to rent a locker at the Entrance Desk. You will obtain the locker key after signing a rental agreement and paying the rental fee.
How much does renting a locker cost ?
The rental fee is 50 TWD per week and you get one week free after renting for three weeks (up to one month). Please read Regulations for CYCU Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library Locker Management.
What should I do if I forget to bring my locker key ?
We will open the locker for you for free the first time you forget your key, but 50 TWD will be charged every time afterwards.
What should I do if I lose the locker key ?
You are required to pay 300 TWD if you lose your locker key. We will suspend your borrowing privileges until you fully pay off the compensation.
Where are the drinking fountains in the library?
You’ll find drinking fountains near the restrooms in the southwest and northeast corners on floors 2-5 and basement level B1. They are available for use throughout library hours.
